In a TV ad looping constantly in the 3rd Legislative District, the allies of Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-3) refer to “Fran Grenier” by name, creating a mild panic attack around the super PAC tactics crafted on Sweeney’s behalf.
“Any idea why they are going out of their way to increase his name ID?” a veteran Democratic Party source wondered aloud to InsiderNJ, referring to
the all-but-unknown nuclear plant worker running a New Jersey Education Association (NJEA)-bootstrapped campaign against the sitting senate president. The ad in question has run in the South Jersey battleground district since late last month.
“Unlike Fran Grenier, Steve Sweeney has always stood up to Gov. Christie to ensure full funding for South Jersey schools,” reads the message from Super-Pac New Jerseyans for a Better Tomorrow (NJ4BT).
“While Steve Sweeney saved the property tax rebates for seniors, Grenier’s team called those rebates a ‘gimmick,” reads the reach-out to Sweeney backers. “The AARP named Sweeney their 2016 Super Saver because they know he’s fighting for them.”
