Assemblywoman Shavonda Sumter (D-35) of Paterson has concerns about bills on the legislature's plate, according to a source with knowledge of the backroom talks ongoing in Trenton.

Sumter frets about "the gateway drug" factor with regard to pot, the source said, as Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-19) continues to try to corral caucus members in favor of the [bubbleAutoLink text="recreational legalization" id="50562"] of marijuana.

The situation was fluid as talks continued Monday and legislators considered the legalization bills in the Assembly Appropriations and Senate Judiciary committees.
