Springfield Reports 21 Positive COVID-19 Tests and One Death
According to Mayor Christopher Capodice, Sr.: As of this message, Springfield had 1 new cases of COVID-19, totalling 21 positive tests and 1 death. Union County has 132 new cases of COVID-19, totaling 742 positive tests and 11 deaths. The State of New Jersey currently had 2298 new cases of COVID-19 and 32 new deaths, bringing the state total number to 11,124 positive tests, and 140 COVID-19 related deaths.
Gov. Phil Murphy announced a 90-day grace period for mortgage payments for borrowers who have been economically impacted by the coronavirus outbreak. Citi, Chase, U.S. Bank, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America will not initiate foreclosure or eviction proceedings for a minimum of 60 days.
Gov. Phil Murphy also said that under an executive order, landlords can’t evict tenants during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Tomorrow, $35 million in supplemental payments will be provided to approximately 205,000 New Jersey households enrolled in NJ SNAP. April benefits also will be increased by $35 million for these households. Supplemental benefits will be directly loaded to NJ SNAP recipients’ Families First EBT cards.
