Suleiman Says He Expects Polistina to Defeat Grossman, and Other Nuggets

Chairman Mike Suleiman

Atlantic County Democratic Committee Chairman Mike Suleiman wants a sweep this year in LD2.

He also would like Democrats to get behind a candidate early in the developing 2022 CD2 scrap. (maybe that’s part of the purpose of an upcoming forum, see details below).

In an interview this evening, Suleiman, up for reelection this year as county party chairman in the South Jersey county, considered those contests, along with the mayoral race in Atlantic City, and the GOP race for state senate in LD2.

In part noting his presence in column four, Suleiman said he doesn’t think movement conservative challenger Seth Grossman can defeat former Assemblyman Vince Polistina (R-2) for the Republican nod for senate on June 8th.

Suleiman expects a Polistina versus Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo (D-2) contest for the seat being vacated by retiring state Senator Chris Brown (R-2).

His party’s chances in that race, as well as a look ahead at redistricting, and more, can be found in the InsiderNJ interview below:

InsiderNJ received this invitation earlier this week:

Who Is Van Drew?,  (WIVD) a grassroots, bi-partisan group of South Jersey voters seeking to hold U.S. Representative Jefferson Van Drew accountable for  his endless flip-flopping on legislative initiatives he once supported, will host a Constituent Tele-Town Hall for the residents of New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District (CD-2) on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 7 p.m. EST.

WIVD is in the process of soliciting questions from CD-2 constituents and has a host of community speakers lined up to address broad range of issues of concern raised residents of Van Drew’s district: These speakers include:  Tim Alexander, Brigid Callahan Harrison, Jerell Blakeley, Crystal Hutchinson, Amy Kennedy, Hector Tavarez, Heather Warburton, Irvin Moreno-Rodriguez, Carolyn Rush & more!

In the interview this evening, Suleiman noted that fellow Galloway resident Alexander is working very hard for the support of the Democratic Party early in the developing CD2 race.

He’s not the only announced candidate who wants to take out Van Drew, however.

Tavarez wants to be the man to defeat Van Drew in 2022.

So far, Kennedy and Harrison, who weathered a bloody 2020 Democratic Primary, have not announced their intentions.
