Sussex County Reports 40 New COVID-19 Cases, Four New Deaths, on Saturday

As of Saturday April 18, 2020 the Sussex County Division of Health (SCDOH) was notified of 40 additional cases of COVID-19 among county residents.

The total number of cases of COVID-19 in Sussex County is at 653, as follows: Andover Borough (2), Andover Township (130), Branchville Borough (3), Byram Township (31), Frankford Township (32), Franklin Borough (27), Fredon Township (10), Green Township (5), Hamburg Borough (18), Hampton Township (15), Hardyston Township (33), Hopatcong Borough (64), Lafayette Township (6), Montague Township (12), Newton Town (59), Ogdensburg Borough (11), Sandyston Township (4), Sparta Township (73), Stanhope Borough (14), Stillwater Township (3), Sussex Borough (6), Vernon Township (65), Walpack Township (0), and Wantage Township (30).

Sussex County Freeholder Director Sylvia Petillo and the Sussex County Division of Health (SCDOH) are saddened to announce that they have been notified of four additional COVID-19- related deaths in Sussex County, in a 78 year- old male from Andover Township, 70 year- old female from Andover Township, a 75 year- old male from Andover Township, and a 96 year- old female from Newton Town. Please note, deaths are announced as they are reported to and verified by the SCDOH, not necessarily on the date that they occur. The SCDOH has been working with those individuals who came into contact with these patients. Those identified as close contacts are in their homes under self-quarantine and being monitored by the SCDOH staff. The Sussex County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Sussex County Division of Health extend their condolences to the patients’ families and friends during this difficult time. The SCDOH is taking all possible steps to ensure the health and safety of our community, and asks for the public’s cooperation in following all recommendations put forth by county, state, and federal agencies.
