Senator Steve Sweeney (D-3) today announced his support of Nick Scutari for Union County Democratic Committee Chairman.

“Union County needs a leader with a record of success standing up to Republicans when it matters most,” said Sweeney. “Nick Scutari has a proven reputation of strong leadership and has dedicated his time and talent to empowering Union County Democrats and getting them involved and civically engaged. He has the ability to serve the Democrats of Union County with the highest standard of service.  It is my honor to endorse my colleague and friend as Union County’s next Democratic Party Chairman.”

Sweeney and Scutari have served together in the State Senate since 2004.   Scutari’s Senate leadership record includes current Chairmanships of the State Judiciary Committee and Joint State Leasing and Space Utilization Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Commerce Committee.  He is the former Chairman of the State Government Committee and the former Vice Chairman of the Senate Education Committee.  He has also served as Commissioner of the New Jersey Clean Elections Commission.

“As Chairman, Scutari will ensure all voices are heard,” Sweeney said. “His platform focuses on grassroots efforts, strong recruitment and building a strong coalition. Through his experience and performance over his distinguished career in public office, Nick has the integrity, the vision, and the will to lead Union County’s Democrats forward.”
