TRENTON – Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-3) announced today that after nearly six years in the Senate Majority Office, Executive Director Kevin Drennan will depart to return to employment in the private sector.

Drennan previously served as chief of staff to the senate president and served nearly four years as executive director of the Senate Majority Office. He will remain in the position until Sept. 15.

“Kevin has worked tirelessly to advance the Senate Democratic Caucus agenda. He has been instrumental in moving important legislative initiatives across the finish line and has been a reliable and trusted advisor to me during his tenure. I want to thank him for his dedication and commitment to the causes championed by the Democratic caucus, to the members and to the office,” said Sweeney. “There is no doubt that this is a tough job, and Kevin’s commitment has been unwavering. The people of New Jersey are better off because of the work that he and the staff he leads do every day on behalf of the Senate. I wish him all the best as he begins a new chapter in his life in the private sector, where I know he will continue to be successful.”

Drennan is departing to work for a for-profit” health insurer.

According to a Majority Office release, before joining the Senate Majority Office, Drennan served as a Regional Director of Governmental Affairs for Cablevision Systems Corporation.  Prior to Cablevision, he was Executive Director of the NJ Commerce Commission and was the lead staffer on the Economic Growth Transition committee for Governor-elect Jon Corzine. He has served two New Jersey Governors and a United States Senator. Drennan currently serves as vice chair of the Board of Trustees of Mercer County Community College, and is involved in numerous community organizations, including the Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey, the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Foundation, and the Hamilton area YMCA.
