Sweeney V. Ciattarelli in Battleground LD1

Ciattarelli, left, and Sweeney.

Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-3) and former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli (R-16) stand on opposing general election sides of the state’s lone state senate contest in Legislative District 1.

Sweeney backs his colleague, Senator Bob Andrzejczak (D-1), while Ciattarelli, a 2021 Republican canddiate for governor, supports Vineland attorney Michael Testa.

Here are the statements of support of the party leaders for their respective candidates:

Ciattarelli on Testa:

“The voters in Legislative District 1 need to elect Michael Testa for two reasons. First, Mike will be a fierce advocate for the property tax relief and economic development the region so desperately needs. Second, as a Republican, Mike will bring necessary balance to the South Jersey delegation and fervent opposition to Phil Murphy’s increasingly out-of-touch agenda, which encourages illegal immigration and only makes New Jersey more unaffordable.”

Sweeney on Andrzejczak:
“Bob Andrzejczak is an American hero who fights for working-class families in the State Senate. He is truly an independent voice for South Jersey, putting the needs his constituents ahead of partisan politics. From fighting to restore funding to the Wildwood Boardwalk to making sure seniors will have expanded access to the senior property tax freeze, LD 1 voters should want Senator Sgt. Andrzejczak in a foxhole with them.”
