Glen Rock Democrats: Glen Rock Residents 65+ Can Get Help With Making Vaccine Appointments
Glen Rock Residents 65+ Can Get Help With Making Vaccine Appointments
Volunteers from the Glen Rock Democratic Club Are Trained and Ready
2/26/2021 Glen Rock – A group of volunteers organized through the Glen Rock Democratic Club are looking to help Glen Rock residents who are age 65+ or visually impaired residents who are otherwise eligible under current NJ guidelines to book online appointments for their Covid-19 vaccines. There is a growing frustration among seniors and their family members with the cumbersome online vaccine registration process. The club’s volunteers are eliminating the frustration for their neighbors and getting new appointments scheduled every day. The group is looking for more seniors who may need help securing an appointment at one of the vaccine sites.
Seniors and others who are eligible for the vaccine often struggle to get appointments. “The only way to get an appointment right now is to be online all day, scanning Twitter and other social media for alerts. It is not a fair system for our seniors, and they are at such high risk without the vaccine,” said Laura Occhipinti, one of the original coordinators of the program. Volunteers have been able to schedule appointments for many people in need, and are looking for more people to help. The group is also helping secure rides to the appointments for those residents who need them.
If you or someone you know is a senior resident of Glen Rock who is in need of their first vaccine appointment, please reach out for help. Email GlenRockDems@gmail.com or call 646-980-7452. Volunteers are ready to help secure appointments so that our community can get back to normal as soon as possible.
The all-volunteer group includes over 20 Glen Rock residents and keeps growing. If you are interested in being a volunteer, either as a booker or a driver, please contact The Glen Rock Dems through the email or phone number above. The program is run through the Glen Rock Democratic Organization, but is open to any resident of Glen Rock.
