The Fulop for Governor campaign is announcing three more Assembly candidates who will run alongside Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steven Fulop in next year’s Primary Election. Councilman Steve Pylypchuk (Legislative District 25) of Morris County, Donald Bonomo, Esq. (Legislative District 38) of Bergen County and Loretta Rivers (Legislative District 17) of Middlesex County will run for NJ State Assembly.  With this announcement, Team Fulop has now recruited 27 Democratic candidates running in districts throughout the state. 

“These candidates are perfect examples of the kinds of community advocates and leaders we want to support, as we help candidates across New Jersey who share our values of breaking away from party boss politics and delivering the kind of progress that our state needs,” said Mayor Fulop. “Competitive primaries are not only healthy for our Democratic Party, but it gives voters a real choice and encourages them to get more engaged in the process. We will continue to support candidates across New Jersey who share our values to bring real change to this state.” 

Lifelong New Jersey resident and Morristown Councilman Steve Pylypchuk (LD-25) previously chaired the Morristown Zoning Board of Adjustment and served as a Commissioner on the Morristown Environmental Commission. As an active member of the community, he is keenly aware of the challenges and opportunities that face every day New Jerseyans, from traffic problems today to the need for sustainable development for the future. As the Director of Civil Engineering at a leading consulting firm, Pylypchuk has managed infrastructure projects like the JFK Airport redevelopment and the Delta SkyWay at LaGuardia Airport and served as an on-the-ground design engineer for the Route 35 Reconstruction after Superstorm Sandy.

“When I ran for Council, I highlighted the need for a transparent and accessible government that puts citizens first,” said Councilman Pylypchuk. “The people know their own needs better than anyone else, and accountable government is what we need to create the strong and inclusive community that our residents deserve.”

South Hackensack resident Donald Bonomo, Esq. (LD-38), is the founding partner of the Law Offices of Perez and Bonomo LLC with a distinguished 25-year legal career, advocating for low-income families and helping them overcome financial burdens. For this dedicated advocacy, he has earned numerous accolades, including the prestigious Equal Justice Medal for three consecutive years. A former chairperson of the Legal Ethics Committee, he now serves on the South Hackensack Zoning Board. Bonomo earned his B.A. from St. John’s University and J.D. from Rutgers Law School.

Dedicated nonprofit leader and advocate Loretta Rivers (LD-17) has over 20 years of experience in creating programs that improve the lives of underserved communities, most notably with Greater Middlesex & Morris Habitat for Humanity. Rivers is an active member of the League of Women Voters’ New Brunswick Area Chapter, NAACP and the Middlesex Federation of Democratic Women. Rivers is committed to continuing her service to the residents of Middlesex County, where she is proud to call home. Rivers graduated from Kean University with a B.S. in Public Administration and Social Services Professions. 

Pylypchuk, Rivers and Bonomo join State Assembly Candidates Ron Arnau (LD-40), Steve Barratt (LD-24), Debra Di Donato (LD-10), Vonetta Hawkins (LD-4), Rosalee Keech (LD-9), Bruce Weekes (LD-2), Brittany Claybrooks (LD-34), Frank Vélez (LD-34), Tamar Warburg (LD-37), Daniel Park (LD-37), Lisa Bonanno (LD-2), Brian K. Everett (LD-4), Rashan Prailow (LD-5), Rebecca Holloway (LD-6), Kevin Ryan (LD-6), Eddie Freeman III (LD-8), Assemblywoman Barbara McCann Stamato (LD-31), Assemblyman John Allen (LD-32), Assemblywoman Jessica Ramirez (LD-32) and Assemblyman Julio Marenco (LD-33) in aligning with Mayor Fulop in the 2025 Primary Election. 

Team Fulop also announced four County Commissioner candidates who will run alongside Steven Fulop including former Palisades Park Mayor Chris Chung in Bergen County, former BCDO State Senate candidate John Vitale in Bergen County, former Closter Councilwoman Dolores Witko in Bergen County, and in Somerset County Veteran Affair Medical Doctor Dhaval Amin.
