The Fulop for Governor campaign is announcing two more Assembly candidates who will run alongside Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steven Fulop in next year’s Primary Election. Andrew LaBruno and David Jiang will run for State Assembly in the 39th Legislative District in Bergen County and David Tingle will run for State Assembly in the 18th Legislative District in Middlesex County. With this announcement, Team Fulop has now recruited 31 Democratic candidates running in districts throughout the state.

“We are running a campaign that is not beholden to the political machine, and these three candidates are great examples of having already been able to shake up the status quo. That is what this campaign is about,” said Fulop. “We’re focused on the people of New Jersey, not the politics, which is why we continue to support candidates who are advocates and community leaders across the state. These are the people who will bring about necessary change that NJ residents deserve.”

Former Dumont Mayor Andrew LaBruno (LD-39) has spent the last decade of his professional career revitalizing his community and advocating for the needs of his residents and neighbors. His commitment to public service led to his election to the Dumont Borough Council in 2018 and to Mayor in 2019. Currently serving as a Police Sergeant in Jersey City, LaBruno’s leadership extends beyond his role in the department, having also served as Union President of the Jersey City Police Superior Officers Association.

Over the years, he became an active member of the Dumont community, volunteering as a coach for Dumont Recreation sports. In 2016, LaBruno founded the Dumont Community Group (DCG), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to fostering positive change in the community through engaging events. Under his leadership, DCG revitalized the Dumont 5K, introduced Movies in the Park, organized the first town-wide garage sale, and supported beloved Borough events like Dumont Day.

With his experience in business and public service, Demarest Councilman David Jiang (LD-39) is ready to bring practical solutions and new energy to Trenton to ensure families and communities can thrive. Immigrated from China, Jiang came to the U.S. at a young age with his family in search of a better future. Growing up in the Tri-state area, he learned the importance of hard work, determination, and giving back.

Jiang’s desire to serve his community inspired him to run for council in Demarest. In 2022 he defeated long standing incumbents by bringing a fresh perspective and a commitment to change. Over the past two years, he has focused on public safety by strengthening leadership in the police department and providing firefighters with essential resources. As chair of the Downtown Economic Redevelopment Committee, Jiang is working to revitalize the local economy and create opportunities for businesses and residents alike.

Edison resident David Tingle (LD-18), knows firsthand how to serve and lead as a member of the United States Air Force. Tingle served on active duty until April of 2001 then transitioned into the Reserves. After the September 11th attacks, he was mobilized and continued to serve in the Reserves as a Chief Master Sergeant, assigned as the Senior Enlisted Leader for the 87th Security Forces Squadron at Joint Base McGuire Dix. Now a Lieutenant of the Edison Police Department, Tingle is assigned to the Patrol Division as a Watch Commander with 22 years of service.

Tingle’s passion and dedication to serve continues in his own community where he is the Commander of American Legion Father and Son Post 435. He is also a lifetime member of VFW Post 3117 and Edison Elks Lodge 2487, and serves on Edison’s Veterans Committee and as the Vice President of the Edison Arts Society.

Team Fulop also announced four County Commissioner candidates who will run alongside Steven Fulop including former Palisades Park Mayor Chris Chung in Bergen County, former BCDO State Senate candidate John Vitale in Bergen County, former Closter Councilwoman Dolores Witko in Bergen County, and in Somerset County Veteran Affairs Medical Doctor Dhaval Amin.
