Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco has announced that Bergen County is working on setting up a County-controlled test site for COVID-19 in the coming days. Test administration would be limited to Bergen County residents and priority would be given to first responders and health care workers.

“The FEMA test site at Bergen Community College has had great success in testing over 1,000 individuals since opening last Friday. To address the increasing demand, Bergen County is working on setting up a County-controlled test site,” said County Executive Tedesco. “Providing greater access for our residents, especially those on the front lines, will help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The County remains steadfast to promoting the health and well-being of our residents.”

The County is in the process of logistical planning and anticipates that operation will start the weekend of March 27th. Mobile testing will be on an appointment-only basis and will observe the following anticipated criteria:

• Healthcare professionals based in Bergen County
• First responders based in Bergen County
• Bergen County residents screened and prescribed through Telehealth system/medical professionals

The NJDOH cites 701 positive COVID-19 cases in Bergen County as of Tuesday afternoon.  County Executive Tedesco is in self-quarantine following exposure to an infected individual.

As of 2pm on Tuesday March 24th, the NJDOH cites 3675 COVID-19 cases statewide, with 44 deaths, 428 negative test results from the state lab, and 45 persons under investigation at the state lab.
