The Fulop for Governor campaign is announcing three more Assembly candidates who will run alongside Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steven Fulop in this year’s Primary Election. Legislative District 25 Marisa Sweeney, Legislative District 14 Dave Luciano and Legislative District 10 Philip Nufrio will run with Team Fulop. With this announcement, Team Fulop has now recruited more than three dozen Democratic candidates running in districts throughout the state.

“This campaign is focused on creating genuine change for New Jersey,” said Mayor Steven Fulop. “We understand that policies affect the daily lives of residents in New Jersey, which is why we are running a policy-driven campaign that puts people first, not politics with community leaders like Marisa, Dave and Philip. It’s time for the government to prioritize the people, not the political establishment.”

Marisa Sweeney (LD-25) MS, RDN, CSSD, is the Owner and Creator of Be Well Integrative Health Services, founded in 2012, which is a women’s wellness center headquartered in downtown Morristown. Deeply involved in volunteer and community work, she founded the Morristown Mayors’ Wellness Campaign, is an Advisory Board Member for the Food and Nutrition Department at the University of Saint Elizabeth, serves on Morristown’s Planning Board, and was recently appointed to the board of Grow It Green Morristown. Sweeney was the 2022 President of the New Jersey Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is the current New Jersey Representative in the House of Delegates for the National Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She was also named Grow It Green Morristown’s 2024 Community Partner of the Year. Sweeney is also the Co-owner and Creator of The New Jersey VegFest: The Garden State’s Official Vegan Food Festival, bringing together hundreds of vegan and plant-based businesses, non-profits, community leaders, and thousands of attendees every year.

Dave Luciano (LD-14) is a lifelong resident of Hamilton who cares very deeply about his community, and the most marginalized in it. While attending the University of Vermont for biology, Luciano took a stand for survivors of sexual violence on campus, and led the fight to rewrite campus rules to better support survivors. After graduating, he returned home and turned to public service, working in environmental policy at the New Jersey Department of Transportation, fighting to ensure all New Jersey residents have access to reliable and sustainable infrastructure, while attending the Rutgers Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. Now, Luciano is in the fight to change New Jersey politics, push back against a corrupt status quo, and guarantee a basic standard of living for all New Jerseyans.

Philip M. Nufrio (LD-10), Ph.D. has been a longtime resident of Seaside Park, with a long history of public service and community involvement. Currently serving at the Municipal Chair of the Seaside Park Democratic Party, he has continually advocated for issues that impact the middle class like New Jersey family care expansion, property tax relief for seniors, sustaining the NJ Homestead Rebate program and state and federal actions to address the climate crisis. Nufrio holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration from Rutgers University, guiding young public servants dedicated to making government for, by, and of the people they serve. He is actively involved in local organizations like Jeff’s Camp of Ocean County, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support veterans with severe social service needs. He is also an active leader in the Knights of Columbus and the American Society for Public Administration.

Sweeney, Luciano and Nufrio join a growing roster of State Assembly candidates supporting Fulop’s vision for a stronger New Jersey in the 2025 Primary Election. Team Fulop also announced three County Commissioner candidates running alongside Steven Fulop: former Palisades Park Mayor Chris Chung, former BCDO State Senate candidate John Vitale, and former Closter Councilwoman Dolores Witko, all from Bergen County.
