Transport Workers Back Malinowski in CD-7
The New York and New Jersey State Conference of the Transport Workers Union of America, which represents over 80,000 members in public transportation, aviation, railroad, university, utility, and services sectors across New York and New Jersey, today endorsed Tom Malinowski in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District.
“Unionizing is about protecting middle class families and keeping the economy in balance. With so much political uncertainty, we need someone in Congress who has our back,” said Steven Hamm, President of Local 229 and New Jersey State Conference Chair. “We trust Tom Malinowski’s record for defending labor rights and are proud to endorse him in this election.”
“We rely on our transport workers to get us to where we need to be safely and on time, and they deserve our support,” said Malinowski. “That means fighting for the infrastructure funding this district badly needs to support our commuter economy.”
Malinowski is the former Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor. He oversaw the U.S. State Department’s Office of International Labor Affairs during the Obama Administration, serving as the chief advocate for worker protections in our international trade agreements and providing support to trade union activists around the world.
