U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew (D-1) has been appointed to the Committee on Agriculture which has jurisdiction ranging from rural development and crop insurance to conservation and agricultural research and development.

New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District is heavily dependent on agriculture, especially on crops such as blueberries, cranberries, tomatoes, corn, and lettuce.

“I am proud to have earned a seat on the committee that shapes our nation’s agricultural priorities. The Agriculture Committee was one of my top committee choices because it will give me the platform to be an even stronger leader for our hard-working farmers in South Jersey,” said Van Drew.

Agriculture is New Jersey’s third largest industry, bringing in billions of dollars in revenue and thousands of jobs. Retaining productive, taxpaying farmland is critically important to all New Jersey residents since agriculture is the largest source of the scenic vistas we all enjoy throughout the year.

Van Drew is the Representative for New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District. His office in Washington, D.C. is in Cannon House Office Building Room 331 and his District office is in Mays Landing. Van Drew was a practicing dentist in South Jersey for more than 30 years and was previously Senator for New Jersey’s 1st Legislative District. He took office on January 3, 2019.
