Vas Urges Perth Amboy to Oppose Caba in Mayoral Run-off Election
With less than one week to go before Perth Amboy voters decide who will lead the city for the next four years in a runoff election December 15, the Together, Perth Amboy Can Do Better campaign committee today made a formal declaration.
In several recent sit-down meetings after its candidate for mayor finished third in the Nov. 3rd election, Together, Perth Amboy Can Do Better campaign committee members inquired as to how Councilman Helmin Caba would address the concerns raised in the recent general election by nearly 4,000 supporters.
Specifically, Together committee members led by former mayoral candidate Joe B. Vas, focused on the steady increase in local property taxes and debt service, the recent surge in violent crime and decreased enforcement of quality of life efforts, and verified reports of more than 25 known carcinogens in the City’s drinking water – all while Caba served as councilman.
“The Together, Perth Amboy Can Do Better campaign was never about politics, it was always about addressing the real concerns of Perth Amboy residents,” commented Frank Salado campaign spokesperson. “Unfortunately, Helmin Caba is incapable of articulating and has flatly refused to answer how he would address the most important concerns facing our City. It is abundantly clear that he is
unprepared, unqualified, and lacks the most basic understanding of municipal finance to be the City’s Mayor. He is an unfortunate by-product of the recent Perth Amboy political infrastructure, nothing more,” added Salado.
“Furthermore, Caba has rarely publicly addressed the many challenges of the future in Perth Amboy, but rather has dispatched a variety of campaign spokespeople with conflicting messages. His refusal to debate Mayor Wilda Diaz speaks loudly and magnifies his claim to be the change Perth Amboy needs is
blatantly unfounded,” concluded Salado.
In good conscience, Together, Perth Amboy Can Do Better cannot support Helmin Caba, the Vas team averred.
