WATCH: Jared Mello Interviews David Richter in CD3
Jared Mello of Mello Mentoring, author and YouTuber, interviews District 3 Republican candidate for Congress David Richter.
Richter is running in the GOP Primary against Kate Gibbs for the go ahead to face incumbent U.S. Rep. Andy Kim (D-3).
“I’m running against two opponents – one in the Republican Primary and one in the general election, who have spent their entire lives in the public sector, who are feeding off the public sector,” Richter tells Mello. “I’ve spent my career in the private sector.”
Richter reminds Mello in the interview that he favors a 12-year term limit in the House and 12-year term limit in the Senate.
“You should not – like Nancy Pelosi – be in Congress for 30-40 years,” the Republican congressional candidate tells Mello.
The candidate criticizes Governor Phil Murphy’s response to the coronavirus crisis.
“Certainly the way Governor Murphy has treated this entire situation has been very, very negative,” Richter tells Mello. “I can’t tell you how many people have started calling him Emperor Murphy. He needs to remember that he works for us. That’s something I’m never going to forget as a member of Congress.”
The candidate focused in particular on the Governor’s order to close parks – since rescinded.
“Idiotic and counterproductive,” Richter tells Mello in the interview.
Overall, Murphy’s response was “A little too draconian,” he adds in reference to the governor. “He realizes people are starting to fight back against some of the executive orders that don’t make sense. They’re going to continue to grow louder. I think May is the month we come out of this thing. Certainly by June and July we return to some degree of normalcy, and I’m going to do everything I can to promote that.”
Last month, Kim appeared at Murphy’s side at one of the governor’s daily COVID-19 briefings at the War Memorial.
In the Mello inteview, Richter compares himself to President Donald J. Trump.
“I think Donald Trump was exactly what this country needed at exactly the right time,” he says. “First of all, anyone who kept Hillary Clinton out of the White House gets my 100 percent support. I think what we needed was a political outsider. …He was a master builder. Exactly the right person to take leadership of this country.
“I feel I’m the same kind of person,” Richter adds.
First David Richter had to leave his Princeton residence(NJ12) to attend this “interview” which should be relabeled as a campaign ad, as Mr. Mello is so enraptured with him as to only offer fawning praise, without asking anything difficult for him to answer, such as You promised on multiple occasions that you would Not drop out on the race for Congress in NJ2 and run elsewhere, you did, can we trust anything you say? Or of his bashing of Trump, reported this year in the NYT. And speaking of NJ2, Richter lets it slip (16:20 mark of video) that this is still on his mind, when he says that he doesnt think Andy Kim can get as much support this time, in the SECOND district. When he is taken off his rehearsed cliches, WE can see Richter could care less about the people of #NJ3, his only concern is obtaining a title to stroke his ego, 2nd district? 3rd? Doesnt matter to me they are all the same.
Richter says he will abide by 12 yr term limit. This directly contradicts what he told Matt Rooney in March, when he stated that he would be Congress for the next 20yrs. IMPORTANT to keep in mind that Every Statement by Princeton resident David Richter has an epiration date, it is only valid for as long as it benefits him politically. Then he just changes it.
