Webber Schedules CD11 GOP Fundraiser
Congressional candidate Jay Webber is holding a pricey fundraiser Friday night in Montville in hopes of giving his campaign a big boost.
Webber, of Morris Plains, is seeking to replace the retiring Rep. Rodney P. Frelinghuysen in the 11th congressional district in northwest New Jersey. To that end, he has scheduled a fundraiser from 6 to 8 p.m. at the home of Sal and Lisa LoBiondo.
A release sent out by the Morris County Republican Committee says “suggested contributions” are $2,500 for those on the Host Committee and $500 for guests.
Webber’s only announced primary challenger for Frelinghuysen’s seat is Antony Ghee of Totowa. The filing deadline is April 2, so it’s possible more candidates will file. The district covers parts of Essex, Morris, Passaic and Sussex counties.
Webber now represents the 26th District in the state Assembly; Ghee hasn’t held elected office.
The ability of candidates to raise money quickly could be key in a short primary campaign like this one. Frelinghuysen didn’t give up his re-election bid until early this year.
