Welle to File with $750K Raised in the Third Quarter

Today, the Welle for Congress campaign announced that they will be filing with almost $750,000 raised for just the third quarter. That puts the Welle Campaign at over 1.3 million dollars raised for the cycle to date.

“This is a new day for democracy, and I am proud to be a part of a community that is leading this movement,” said Josh Welle, candidate for New Jersey’s 4th Congressional District. “Chris Smith no longer represents the ideals and the beliefs of our district. As a veteran, I believe we need a new generation of leaders who will protect our Constitution and ensure equal rights for everyone, not just a few. I defended our nation in the Navy on the frontlines and that is what I will do out of uniform in Congress.”

In June, the campaign out raised Chris Smith, a 38-year incumbent, by $100,000 and in early September the Welle campaign announced they had hit 1 million dollars raised. With these latest numbers, the Welle Campaign is closing in on tripling the previous record of $480,000 raised in one cycle against Chris Smith.

“This campaign is shattering every previous fundraising record for this district and it’s because the people of Central Jersey aren’t going to put up with an absentee Congressman who is asleep at the wheel. Chris Smith seems to think that he can sit in Washington and rely on his corporate donors and special interests to win this race for him. Momentum is clearly on the side of Josh Welle and that’s because he is standing up for women and the LGBTQ community, who Chris Smith has crusaded against for his entire 38 years in Congress,” said Kim Maier, Welle For Congress Campaign Manager.
