Independent Candidate Weber Steps Forward in CD3
Martin Weber today announced his Independent candidacy to represent New Jersey’s Third Congressional District in Congress.
Weber, 55, is the owner of YoBuck Landscaping Company in Barnegat. He is a U.S. Army Veteran and former Captain of the Barnegat Volunteer First Aid Squad.
The candidate said his platform focuses on reforming the Veterans Administration, tackling debts and deficits, preserving New Jersey’s environment, and restoring power to the constituents of the district.
Reforming the V.A. hit very close to home for Weber as his partner and YoBuck cofounder and fellow U.S. Army Veteran, Jeff Poissant, died from cancer.
“Seeing Jeff go through what so many veterans are going through (waiting for the care they need), made
me sick to my stomach, Weber said. “If Jeff received the care he needed in a more timely fashion, he’d still be here with us. How many more families feel this way?… something has to be done for our veterans.”
Better known to his friends and clients as “Marty”, Weber said he is prepared to run a clean, civil, productive debate with his opponents during the campaign. “This campaign is about the people of the Third District, not the personalities running to represent them,” Weber said. “The people of this district deserve to have their voices and concerns heard.
“I’m not a politician…I’m here to help the people, the veterans, my country,” the candidate added.
CD3 features a competitive Republican Primary this year wherein no fewer than four candidates are jockeying for the nomination, among them millionaire David Richter and labor leader Kate ibbbs, who already has the backing of the Burlington County GOP and the recommendation of the Ocean County GOP screening committee.
Having won the seat in 2018 by beating incumbent Republican Tom MacArthur, U.S. Rep. Andy Kim (D-3) serves the distrct.
