MENDHAM – Donald Trump’s help didn’t put Christine Serrano Glassner in the Senate, but it’s taking her to the White House.
Serrano Glassner has resigned as mayor of this tony Morris County borough to take a White House job in the Trump Administration.
In a posting on the borough website, Serrano Glassner says she has “mixed emotions” about resigning her position.
She adds:
“I have dedicated my life to public service in federal, state and local governments, with my favorite so far being with all of you while caring for this town that I love and have grown up in. Being mayor of Mendham Borough and the first woman mayor has given me an opportunity to give back to my community and help usher our small historic town into the future in as graceful a manner as possible.”
Serrano Glassner pledged to continue her public service in Washington.
Back last spring, Serrano Glassner sought the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate – at the time planning to run against Bob Menendez.
She stayed in the race when Menendez bowed out, and in May was endorsed by Trump at a rally in Wildwood.
Notwithstanding Trump’s imprimatur, Serrano Galssner lost the Republican primary to Curtis Bashaw by about 23,000 votes.
Bashaw lost the general election to now-Senator Andy Kim by almost 400,000 votes.
Serrano Glassner’s post did not specify what she will be doing in her new job.
Loser is joining the coup against the Constitution. Embarrassing
